The East Blue Hill Public Library invites the public to hear Jeanne Bartlett, whose works have been commended by the poet laureate of New Hampshire, give a reading on Thursday, June 11, at 7:00 p.m. at the library, located at 9 Curtis Cove Road. Born in 1929, Jeanne Bartlett is a skilled storyteller from New Hampshire who will share selections of poetry and prose from her works, Being Present with the Past, and A Voice Downstream.
In the twenty-five graceful and humorous essays in Being Present with the Past, Bartlett vividly recalls her 1930s and 1940s childhood on a rural New Hampshire homestead. Modern events spark her memories of daily chores, community generosity, and a resourceful family ethos of making do. A Voice Downstream includes poetry and prose that explore nature, kinship, aging, loss, writing itself, and often the place these occupy within the larger world. We hope you can join us for this special evening.
